Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival Tour at Rochester Opera House on 4/3

Mar 21, 2024

The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will stop at the Rochester Opera House for one night only on Wednesday, April 3 as a fundraiser for Greater Seacoast Community Health. Doors open at 6 p.m. and films begin at 7 p.m.

The Paintbrush Film Program will be shown, highlighting outdoor adventure, travel to exotic landscapes, and action sports. The film lineup is as follows:

  • Desert Wings: Paramotoring (using a motorized paraglider) over the deserts in the American Southwest.
  • Soundscape: Share the experience of climbing a mountain via echolocation, touch, and imagination with an adventure athlete who is fully blind.
  • The Blackcountry Journal: An artistic expression showing the collaboration of black culture, skiing, and jazz.
  • Georgia Astle: Flip the Switch: Canadian mountain biker Georgia Astle aspires to take her mountain biking skills to the next level.
  • Canada Vertical: Explorers travel from Canada’s northernmost island to Canada’s southernmost park by skiing, canoeing, and biking in extreme conditions.
  • Leo & Chester: Leo, a sought-after rock star with a promising career, turns his back on the industry to pursue a life with a herd of buffalo.
  • Earthside: Follow a group of skiers on an expedition above the Arctic Circle as they find their trip’s success is contingent not on what they skied but the time they have together.
  • Near the River: The potential impact of a proposed dam on the Zambezi River near the tourism town of Livingstone, Zambia.
  • El Gavilán: Two Canadian mountain climbers attempt to climb a 900-foot limestone shipwreck in the Mexican desert.

Event proceeds assist local individuals and families in accessing quality, affordable primary and preventive health care services through Greater Seacoast’s network of community health centers: Goodwin Community Health in Somersworth and Families First Health & Support Center in Portsmouth.

“We’re honored to host this world-class event as a fundraiser to help us further our mission of providing quality health care to everyone — regardless of ability to pay,” said Joann Neumann, Greater Seacoast’s Chief Development Officer. “We’re excited for film festival guests to join in viewing these amazing feats of adventure and outdoor exploration.”

Tickets are $28.50 each and include all ticket fees. Visit or call 603-335-1992 to learn more.
