On a beautiful fall day, the Rochester Rotary Club, board and staff from Hope on Haven Hill (HHH), and local dignitaries met to cut the ribbon for and officially open a new play space at the HHH Center for Hope and Wellness. This outdoor space was created by Rochester Rotarians and friends for the children and mothers who utilize the HHH Center for Hope and Wellness.
The project was made possible by funding from a Rotary District #7780 grant coupled with Rochester Rotary funds to purchase playground equipment, fencing, and picnic seating for the Center for Hope and Wellness.
Rochester Rotarians and friends from the community worked to construct all the playground equipment, fences were installed to create a safe space, and Polywood picnic tables were delivered creating a lovely outdoor space that will increase the physical and mental well-being of all family members using the HHH Center for Hope and Wellness on Charles Street. Many vendors helped provide supplies and items at cost to enhance the scope of the grant and project.
Hope on Haven Hill has a mission to provide gender-responsive residential, outpatient, and recovery support substance use disorder services for pregnant, post-partum, and parenting women in New Hampshire. Josh Dame, President of the Rochester Rotary Club spoke of the alignment of this project with Rotary International’s initiatives focused on disease prevention and treatment, and maternal and child health.
HHH Executive Director Kerry Norton, Rochester Mayor Paul Callaghan, and Dame helped cut the ribbon. Norton, speaking on behalf of the HHH board, staff, and clients, thanked the Rochester Rotarians for the beautiful outdoor space.
Each year Rochester Rotary Club commits to various projects throughout the city that benefit community members and illustrate Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”. The Rochester Rotary meets weekly on Monday at the Roberge Center at noon. Professionals working or residing in the city are welcome to attend a meeting and learn about the club’s focus and work.
